Influencer marketing isn’t so scary

Part-media relations, part-advertising, part-branded content, influencer marketing has proven to be a darling in brands’ marketing strategies. But not every marketer has mature influencer relationships and successful campaigns under their belt. Some marketers may feel like they’re stuck in the mud convincing leadership to “just try one” influencer campaign, or scrambling to allocate resources and justify spend, or are reluctantly admitting that they feel lost in the woods.

How To Sell A Behavior When The Competition Is Steep

Picture this: It’s a blistering, 101-degree day. The sun bakes your skin and dries your throat, which aches to be quenched by something cold and bubbly. The heat has depleted your energy levels, and you’d give anything for a pick-me-up. The answer to all your prayers? Probably a Coca-Cola (or whatever your favorite carbonated beverage may be). I can’t blame you — they’re chilled, they’re cheap, and chances are there’s one sitting in a fridge near you, waiting to be plucked from its shelf.

Nike’s 30th anniversary ‘Just Do It’ campaign featuring Colin Kaepernick has done what every advertising agency hopes for – dominate public conversation. It has broken off the sports page and generated everything from a presidential tweet to sneaker-effigies usually reserved for star players taking their talents elsewhere. The campaign was timed perfectly to coincide with the opening of the NFL regular season, including a paid spot during the first game of the year.

Bigger is Bitter

The bigger the better is a worn old chestnut of an expression that has distinct applicability to certain professional sports, say basketball for example, and clear downsides when applied to adverse events. In the latter example one might more readily turn to the admonition bequeathed to us by E.F. Schumaker — “Small Is Beautiful”, or at least preferable to big. This abstract notion comes in better focus when applied to the latest compilation of the latest costs of data breaches, brought to us by the Ponemon Institute.

WalshPR’s The Global Perspective featuring IPREX partner George Platsis, SDI Cyber Risk Practice

Unless you have been living under a rock, you will be aware that earlier this year a growing number of people were not too pleased with Facebook and Alphabet Inc., parent of Google and developers of the mobile operating system, Android. Much of the public frustration began by revelations from an employee of Cambridge Analytica that the company harvested information from 50 million Facebook users. I want to skip over the part about how the data was used, because that’s the fog in this storm and the distraction is entering ‘funny cat video’ territory. Where we should be focusing our thinking is here: that the data was harvested in the first place, in one central repository. That’s the issue.

The Future Of Healthcare Tastes Like Broccoli

“We have 13 hospitals in our system. I think my job is to close all of them.” With that, David Feinberg, MD, CEO of Geisinger Health, put an exclamation point on his remarks at The Future of Healthcare conference in Las Vegas earlier this month. “For us, what really matters [for good health] is so much about what’s happening outside the clinics or outside the hospitals. We spend too much time talking about great doctors and hospitals and treatments. Access to healthcare probably has a 20 percent effect on your overall health.” So, what matters more? Your genetic code. Your zip code. Who you are. Where you live.
